Surprise! It’s Winter! – Homebrew Wednesday February 18, 2015

Make sure you keep your ball valves clean. Just because you can’t see what’s inside doesn’t mean it won’t mess up your beer. I completely disassembled the ball valve from my kettle, boiled and scrubbed all the pieces.

Then I got brewing to tackle another double brew day, but February in Wisconsin had other plans!

What challenges have you run into brewing outside? Leave a comment below.

Lucette Brewing Expansion Plans

Big things are afoot at Lucette Brewing Company in Menomonie, WI. Namely, they are expanding their building to give them more space and allow them to serve local customers directly. Jon, the head brewer, took me on tour of their expanding facility. He brought me in to the new space that’s being added, where they will have a tap room with a huge bar.

Some of the exciting changes will free up space inside the brewery by moving packaging and dry storage out of the brewing area. This is going to free up space for more fermentation, which is always a good thing.

So, grab yourself a beer, and be happy you weren’t on the tour in short-sleeved shirt . . . in November. I had a lot of fun, and I’m excited to be able to visit the new space when it opens in the spring of 2015.

Grab some Lucette beers and enjoy!
